(Photo by Brooke Sutton/Getty Images) | Getty Images Sunday afternoon’s game between the Minnesota Vikings and the Detroit Lions at Ford Field had a very scary moment in the fourth quarter involving one of the Lions’ star defensive players.Early in the fourth quarter, Lions linebacker Jack Campbell made what looked, at first glance, to be a fairly routine tackle on Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson on a third-down catch. Upon making contact with Hockenson, however, Campbell immediately went limp on the field and did not move, with players on both teams immediately taking a knee on the field after the play was over.Play was stopped for an extended period of time as medical personnel looked Campbell over. He was placed on a backboard and carted off the field, then taken to a local medical facility. The Lions have released a statement on Campbell’s medical condition.Jack Campbell is resting and will remain in a local hospital tonight, for continued evaluation and monitoring. The team will provide further updates as we have them.— Detroit Lions (@Lions) November 2, 2026The statement, in full, reads:Jack Campbell is resting and will remain in a local hospital tonight, for continued evaluation and monitoring. The team will provide further updates as we have them.I don’t want to read too much into the statement, so I won’t.Here’s hoping that Jack Campbell ends up being okay. Obviously, you hate to see something like this happen to anyone, and I’m sure that the medical professionals who are watching over him are doing everything they can for him. Hopefully there will be some positive news to pass along about his condition sooner rather than later.
