Liverpool get midfielder green light as Real Madrid ready to listen to offers

Liverpool could be set to overhaul their midfield options this summer. There is a possibility Curtis Jones could depart for Inter Milan if the Italian champions raise their bid to a figure acceptable to the outgoing Premier League champions. Meanwhile, Stefan Bajcetic’s future appears precarious, with Sevilla among the Spanish clubs showing interest in the 21-year-old midfielder. Any significant departures are likely to trigger a recruitment response, and there has been no shortage of midfielders linked with a move to Anfield. From Adam Wharton to Alex Scott, Liverpool have been mentioned as suitors for several midfielders, and another name has now emerged on their radar.
With Jose Mourinho installed as Real Madrid’s new head coach, it seems the Spanish club may be open to offers for Eduardo Camavinga. The 23-year-old Frenchman endured a disappointing season, slipping down the pecking order and dropping out of contention for France’s FIFA World Cup squad. A Mundo Deportivo report claims that both Liverpool and Manchester City are monitoring Camavinga, who is not currently in Mourinho’s plans for the forthcoming season. “Real Madrid continues to look for ways to offload some of its players this summer,” the report states. “So far, only Ceballos has left, but clubs are showing interest in several players from the Madrid squad. Two of them have attracted attention from Premier League teams: Camavinga, 23, and Tchouaméni, 26.”
Camavinga joined Real Madrid in 2021 from Rennes and is under contract until 2029. He has won two Champions Leagues with Los Blancos and, at present, does not view his career at the Bernabéu as over. “Camavinga is not, in principle, in Mourinho’s plans, and the player knows it. Despite this, the midfielder has no intention of leaving Real Madrid,” the report notes. Instead, he would like to prove to the new head coach that he still has something to offer, even as Madrid also pursued Bernardo Silva to bolster their midfield.
In short, Camavinga’s situation at Real Madrid remains nuanced. While he is not currently in Mourinho’s long-term plans, he is not actively seeking a exit, and he would prefer to demonstrate his value to the new coach. This keeps Liverpool in the frame as a potential destination, alongside the other top clubs, as the summer market unfolds and Real Madrid weighs offers for several players. If Real Madrid decide to move players on, Camavinga could be one of the most intriguing options for clubs looking to refresh their midfield ranks.
