Marc Marquez defends Marco Bezzecchi after brutal Sachsenring crash, slams ‘karma’ claims

Marc Marquez has shared his perspective on Marco Bezzecchi’s crash, urging fans and journalists to adopt a more mature approach and to avoid quick moral judgments. During Q2 at the German Grand Prix on the Sachsenring, Bezzecchi suffered a heavy high-side on his second flying lap, slamming into the ground with significant force. The impact led to a complete and displaced fracture of his collarbone, forcing him to withdraw from the remainder of the weekend.
It didn’t take long for some fans and media members to weigh in with verdicts, labeling the incident as “karma” for Bezzecchi’s actions in the Czech Grand Prix, where he lightly slapped a marshal who had mishandled his crashed Aprilia. In response to the reaction from many fans toward Bezzecchi and his crash, Marquez offered this view.
“Karma doesn’t exist,” Marquez stated. “I have read the word ‘karma’ since 2015, for example, and I won six world championships after that. So, if that’s karma then it’s welcome.” He made a light-hearted joke, alluding to the controversial 2015 season in which he faced accusations of influencing the Lorenzo-Rossi title battle, allegedly aiding his fellow Spaniard and impeding a legendary rival in the process—a charge Marquez has repeatedly denied.
“Karma doesn’t exist, and, you know, all the riders are taking a lot of risks out there. We wish the best for Marco. I already posted after the Indonesia crash, telling people not to push against Marco, because these things happen in races. I wish Bez a good recovery.” Marquez emphasized the importance of patience and support for Bezzecchi during his recuperation, underscoring a broader message about the dangers inherent in high-speed competition and the need for measured reactions from fans and the media alike.
Bezzecchi’s crash at the Sachsenring underscores the perilous nature of MotoGP racing and the unpredictable outcomes that can arise on the track. While the sport thrives on passion and engagement from its audience, Marquez’s comments point to a more constructive path: offering encouragement to a rider who has suffered a serious injury, rather than rushing to judgment or assigning moral consequences to an incident born from the inherent risks of professional racing. The Italian rider’s injury is a setback for him and his team, but Marquez’s remarks advocate for resilience and respect within the racing community as Bezzecchi focuses on a swift and complete recovery.
