​Mets top pitching prospect Jonathan Santucci made his Triple-A debut Saturday evening and while he showed his overpowering stuff, it was a grind for the left-hander.Going up against Rochester, Santucci allowed two runs on five hits and five walks while striking out seven.  Santucci’s night started with back-to-back walks, and he eventually walked the bases loaded but got Andrew Pinckney to ground out into an inning-ending double play to get out of the jam. The second inning saw Santucci not walk a batter, but a leadoff single and a two-out triple gave Rochester the early 1-0 lead. The next batter hit a double to push across the second run charged to Santucci, but that would be all he would give up. Santucci’s third inning saw him strike out three batters, working around a two-out double before stranding a runner on second in the fourth inning. Santucci started the fifth, but after a six-pitch walk, the southpaw was pulled. Overall, Santucci tossed 90 pitches (52 strikes) in his four-plus innings of work. A solid start for Santucci, who could be fast-tracked to the majors if his development continues. He was promoted to Syracuse on July 28 after overpowering Double-A. Although his ERA sat at 3.57, he was mowing down the competition, striking out 120 batters across 90.2 innings (19 starts).
