Miami Heat Finally Respond to Bam Adebayo-Tyler Herro Altercation

Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro, who spent seven seasons together with the Miami Heat, have seen their long-standing partnership reportedly reach a breaking point. On Friday, ESPN reported that Adebayo confronted and struck Herro in Las Vegas, following social media comments made after Herro’s trade to Milwaukee. The confrontation apparently took place at a hotel practice court in Las Vegas, according to Shams Charania, and involved Adebayo engaging with Herro over remarks critiquing the center after their seven-year run in Miami ended.
The Heat issued their first public response to the report, saying only that they were aware of the situation but would not be commenting further. “We are aware, but not commenting,” a Heat spokesperson told longtime Heat beat writer Ira Winderman on Friday. The statement marked the organization’s initial public comment since Charania’s report about the altercation earlier in the day, as both the Heat and the Bucks opened NBA Summer League play in Las Vegas.
As the incident was reported, Herro attended the Heat’s Summer League game against Milwaukee, while Adebayo was not present. Neither team has disclosed whether the altercation affected the availability of either player for any subsequent games or events. The report follows weeks of escalating public friction between the two former teammates, highlighted by a social media incident after Herro’s move to Milwaukee in the blockbuster trade that sent him to Wisconsin as part of the deal for Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Earlier Friday, Charania described the confrontation in detail, noting that Adebayo approached Herro about comments the guard had made on social media that critiqued Adebayo after the end of their Miami era. Charania stated that the altercation began at the practice court and that Adebayo struck Herro during the exchange. In the aftermath, Herro declined to discuss the report, telling Winderman, “My only comment is no comment.” Adebayo has not publicly addressed the incident.
