Nelly Korda misses first cut in two years at Amundi Evian Championship

Nelly Korda drew parallels to Scottie Scheffler for the past three years, but Friday delivered an association neither athlete would have welcomed. Hours after Scheffler secured his first missed cut on the PGA Tour in four years, Korda ended her two-year streak of making the cut on the LPGA Tour. She needed a birdie on her final hole in Round 2 of the Amundi Evian Championship to guarantee safety, yet her effort narrowly missed. Korda finished 2-under 69, leaving her at 1 over for the tournament, one shot too many to advance to the weekend. She wound up tied for 67th, just outside the cut line that excluded the top 65 and ties, snapping a streak of 34 consecutive cuts made in official LPGA events. Her last missed cut had come at the 2024 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, a year in which she secured seven victories.
Korda has three wins this season, including the first two majors, the Chevron Championship and the U.S. Women’s Open. She tied for eighth in major No. 3, the KPMG Women’s PGA, which equaled her worst individual result in 2026—until Friday. After entering Round 2 at 3-over, Korda rallied to even par by carding three birdies across 12 holes, but a bogey on the par-4 17th—where she had a 10-foot birdie save roll by—pushed her below the projected cut line.
On the par-5 18th, the Evian Resort Golf Club’s easiest hole, Korda failed to find the fairway with her tee shot and chose to lay up. Her approach finished 15 feet beyond the flag, and once again she failed to convert a short putt she needed to salvage the final hole. Korda was tied for 67th when she signed her card, with players still on the course. Her position briefly fluctuated to T-65 before settling at its final, outside-the-cut mark.
Looking ahead, Korda is scheduled to compete in next week’s ISPS Handa Scottish Open at Dundonald Links, followed by the AIG Women’s Open at Royal Lytham & St Annes, the LPGA’s fifth and final major of the year.
The Amundi Evian Championship’s second round saw Lottie Woad surge to the lead, continuing an impressive first year on the LPGA Tour. Woad, still early in her pro career, held the top spot at a major championship for the first time. The coverage also highlighted ongoing developments and broader storylines within the tour’s landscape, including the ongoing pursuit of strong results by emerging players as veterans navigate the schedule.
