NFL power rankings: Browns moves haven’t moved the needle nationally

The Cleveland Browns entered another offseason focused on reshaping the team and refreshing the roster. This time, the departures were notable: Myles Garrett, Joel Bitonio, Wyatt Teller, David Njoku, Martin Emerson, Devin Bush, Jerome Ford, and several other familiar faces moved on. Through a combination of free-agent signings, the NFL draft, and a strategic trade, Cleveland rebuilt its offensive line while also injecting youth into the wide receiver group. With quarterback uncertainty still in play, bringing in HC Todd Monken offers the opportunity for a fresh offensive approach that should differ from the system run by former head coach Kevin Stefanski.
Even with these roster changes, the Browns remain near the bottom of many preseason rankings. For instance, Bleacher Report’s national power rankings place Cleveland 30th out of 32 teams, reflecting the skepticism surrounding the club heading into training camp. A crucial test this summer will be the integration of the new starting offensive line—gelling as a unit after a series of changes and new faces.
Defensively, there’s an expectation that the Browns may regress after shipping star edge rusher Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for edge rusher Jared Verse and three early-round draft picks over the next three years. Yet the franchise isn’t without positive notes in the write-ups. New head coach Todd Monken and his staff have substantial work ahead before Week 1 of the upcoming season, and while analysts aren’t predicting immediate success, there is potential for the team to be entertaining with a host of young players stepping into key roles.
Developing upside among young players is a major focal point, as it helps keep fans engaged and provides something to look forward to in the future. Among the few teams ranked below Cleveland are the Miami Dolphins and the Arizona Cardinals, but the rest of the AFC North also misses the Top 10: the Pittsburgh Steelers sit at 19, the Cincinnati Bengals at 15, and the Baltimore Ravens at 13, with none cracking the top dozen in these power rankings.
What’s your take on the Browns’ current power ranking? Do you think they deserve more respect, or should they prove it on the field before earning it? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.
