LAS CRUCES, New Mexico (KTSM) — New Mexico State women’s soccer opened its 2026 season with a 3-1 loss to Arizona State at the NM State Athletic Soccer Complex on Wednesday night.The Aggies struck first when Angeline Montoya scored in the 44th minute.Arizona State answered moments later, with Miki Hayashi finding the net in the 45th minute just before halftime to tie the match at 1-1.The Sun Devils took the lead in the second half when Kierra Blundell converted a penalty kick.Arizona State added another goal later in the match when Maja Madon found the top-right corner, giving the Sun Devils a 3-1 advantage.NM State will look to bounce back on the road Saturday when the Aggies face Arizona.Copyright 2026 Nexstar Media, Inc.
