WOMEN’S PROFESSIONAL FIELD
The women’s race features a blend of established champions, rising stars, and consistent title chasers within the Experience Oman Ironman Pro Series. Wearing bib number one this year is Austria’s Lisa Perterer, who finished as runner-up in Lake Placid last year. Perterer climbed to third overall in the 2023-24 Ironman Pro Series and has begun 2026 strongly, highlighted by a fifth-place finish at the 2026 Ironman Hamburg European Championship.
Joining her is Spain’s Marta Sánchez, who finished third at Lake Placid last year. Sánchez sits ninth in the Experience Oman Ironman Pro Series standings and has been one of the circuit’s most reliable performers this season, accumulating more than 7,000 points through a string of strong results.
American Chelsea Sodaro, the 2022 Ironman World Champion, will make her pro debut in this series’ context at Lake Placid, aiming to add another marquee win to her résumé. Australia’s Grace Thek enters as one of the most in-form athletes in the field. Ranked sixth in the Pro Series standings, Thek has emerged as a genuine title contender through a series of standout results in 2026.
Canadian Tamara Jewett, currently eighth in the standings, brings one of the strongest running résumés in the sport and will look to gain valuable ground in the late stages of the race. Fellow Canadian Paula Findlay enters Lake Placid fresh off a commanding victory at the Ironman 70.3 Pennsylvania Happy Valley North American Championship, where she claimed her third straight North American Championship title in a highly competitive field. An extraordinarily accomplished and versatile figure in triathlon, Findlay will make her full-distance Ironman Pro Series debut in Lake Placid, adding an intriguing storyline to an already stacked women’s field.
With the strong lineup of contenders and the strategic points at stake, the Women’s Professional field promises an exciting, hard-fought race in the heart of the Adirondacks, as athletes push toward Kona 2026 and the culmination of the Ironman Pro Series season.
