We recently posted a FEED asking our community members to share one change they would make to the NFL if they could. The responses were plentiful and insightful, reminding us just how passionate fans are about the game and about seeing it continue to grow and thrive. There were many thoughtful ideas, with one recurring theme central to the conversation: the desire to see Roger Goodell replaced as commissioner. It’s easy to understand why; Goodell isn’t universally popular, and leading a highly public, polarizing league comes with intense scrutiny and pressure.
Many suggestions focused on rules and officiating. It’s only natural that officiating decisions and rule interpretations generate debate week after week, given how central the game’s flow and fairness are to the fan experience. This is one area where passions run high, and opinions vary widely, making consensus difficult but the discussion valuable.
One of my favorite responses proposed reducing the number of international games. The expansion has been steady, and while it’s clear the NFL aims to broaden its global footprint, some fans feel the schedule stretch is becoming excessive. Still, turning back or slowing international expansion seems unlikely in the near term, given the league’s ongoing efforts to grow its global presence and monetize new markets.
As for my own wish, I’d love to see the draft return to a one-day event, as it used to be in the past. Spreading the seven rounds over three days feels inefficient and overly protracted. In an era that prizes quick pacing and fan engagement, compressing the draft into a single day would create a more focused, electric atmosphere. Of course, the reality is that the league’s financial incentives currently favor a longer, multi-day format, and changing that would require a major shift in revenue models and scheduling priorities.
