Heading into Week 9 of the NFL schedule, there isn’t too much for the Vikings to complain about. Not only are they sitting atop the NFC North standings, but they are also tied with the Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers for the best record in the league.Their defense, which is giving up just 13.3 points a game — best in the NFL — makes them a title contender. However, an offense managing 20.0 points per week — sixth worst in the league — is what will undercut their Super Bowl aspirations. That is why they have been linked to various trade rumors to improve that side of the ball over the last few weeks.Money will be major hurdle to Jonathan Taylor tradeIndianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor against the Tennessee Titans at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis in Week 6.The position NFL pundits believe they want to improve before next week’s trade deadline is the running back spot. Furthermore, reports over the weekend suggested that Minnesota was among five teams that have had conversations with the Indianapolis Colts about Taylor. However, on Wednesday, ESPN’s Dan Graziano explained why a deal for the three-time Pro Bowler will be tough when he wrote, “Minnesota has looked around at running backs, but it doesn’t sound as if the Vikings are in a position to take on much salary.”Taylor has a base salary of $6.9 million this season and is on the books for just over $43 million the next two seasons. While he would be a fantastic addition to their offense, the money side of a deal is problematic. However, that same ESPN report offered up an alternative option that may be just as good and without the same long-term financial shackles. Why the Minnesota Vikings should pursue a Derrick Henry tradeOct 11, 2026; Atlanta, Georgia, USA; Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry (22) runs against Atlanta Falcons linebacker Divine Deablo (0) during overtime at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. He is scheduled to earn $12 million next year, and none of that money is guaranteed,” Graziano wrote. “If he isn’t in Baltimore’s plans beyond this year, the Ravens could find themselves fielding offers over the next week. “Henry’s base salary this year is just $1.255 million (he made the rest of this year’s $14 million via bonuses the Ravens have already paid), so he’d be extremely easy for another team to absorb onto its cap.”At 32 years old, Henry is no longer in his prime. But he is still a Pro Bowl-level player who is on pace for a seventh 1,000-plus-yard rushing season in the last eight years. He would certainly make life easier for Kyler Murray and give defenses more reason
