Roma targeted Moreira and Garnacho in double Chelsea deal

Roma could find themselves weighing a double deal with Chelsea as negotiations heat up for both Alejandro Garnacho and Diego Moreira, who is currently with RC Strasbourg. The Giallorossi have all but given up hope of landing Mason Greenwood from Olympique Marseille, since he has chosen a move to Fenerbahce instead.
The next name on Roma’s radar is Moreira, who will turn 22 next month. Chelsea initially sold him to RC Strasbourg for €8.5 million in the summer of 2024. Both clubs operate under the same umbrella of the BlueCo consortium, led by owner Todd Boehly. As part of that partnership, Chelsea hold the first refusal on Moreira, a clause they have shown little appetite to exercise so far.
However, Sportitalia transfer pundit Alfredo Pedullà suggests that the shared ownership could enable a more cooperative approach, potentially yielding more favorable terms if Roma pursue a combined move for Garnacho alongside Moreira. Gazzetta dello Sport reports Roma are prepared to bid €35 million plus bonuses for Moreira, including a 10 percent sell-on clause, while they would prefer to secure Garnacho on a loan with an option to buy.
Garnacho, whose progress has stalled due to limited playing time at Manchester United and then Chelsea, would likely welcome regular minutes elsewhere under Gian Piero Gasperini. Roma’s upgrade in status after their Champions League qualification has also improved the attractiveness of Garnacho’s profile, particularly given his close friendship with Paulo Dybala. The possibility of Garnacho reuniting with Dybala at a club that can offer consistent European football adds another layer to the potential double swoop.
