Thousands of runners gathered on Saturday to mark the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. In partnership with the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, New York Road Runners organized a 4-mile race through Central Park to honor the solemn milestone and remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost. The event drew about five thousand participants who joined in remembrance and included a tribute to the courage and service of all first responders and volunteers who helped New York City recover and rebuild in the aftermath.
Proceeds from the race support the educational programs of the 9/11 Memorial and Museum and help keep the memorial accessible to visitors at no charge. Nina Pineda spoke with runners in the park, capturing the atmosphere of reflection and resilience that defined the day.
