Michigan will also be heading into this game after suffering a loss, as they fell 13-6 in overtime against No.6 Indiana. Both teams are entering this game after seeing a shakeup at the quarterback position last game. After watching inconsistent play from Bryce Underwood to start the year, the Wolverines decided to bench him last game in favor of backup Tommy Carr, who has been confirmed to be Michigan’s starter for their game against the Scarlet Knights. In his lone start this season against the Hoosiers, Carr completed 20 of 32 passes for 167 yards, no touchdowns, and one interception. The Knights will see a shakeup at quarterback this game, albeit involuntarily because of an injury starter Dylan Lonergan suffered against Northwestern that will sideline him for this game as well. No official starter has been named for this game. Last game, AJ Surace and Sean Ashenfelder saw significant time; however, neither was able to get much momentum going as they combined for nine completions on 27 passing attempts, 100 passing yards and two interceptions. To make matters worse, star wide receiver KJ Duff has been named doubtful for this game due to an undisclosed injury, according to Wednesday’s availability report. In the run game, Michigan has two viable options to use, as they have Jordan Marshall and Savion Hiter who can carry the load for them. So far this season, Marshall is averaging 3.9 yards per carry on 81 total carries, with 319 total yards and four touchdowns. Hiter is averaging 3.6 yards per carry on 67 total carries, with 238 total yards rushing and two touchdowns. While the numbers aren’t the flashiest, they could still pose a problem for Rutgers, whose defense ranks last in the Big Ten at stopping the run. The same is true for Michigan’s receivers. JJ Buchanan leads the Wolverines in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns with 33, 539 and four. Again, while those numbers aren’t the flashiest, they could pose a problem for Rutgers weak defense. While offense might be Michigan’s weakness, their defense is one of the better defenses around the country. Currently, they surrender an average of 15.7 points per game, which is 11th in the FBS. Michigan DE John Henry Daley could be a huge issue for the Knights, as he has recorded four sacks on the season so far, and Rutgers has struggled to keep defenders off of their quarterback all season. They as a team also average 1.3 positive turnovers per game, which could be a huge issue given the Knights’ turnover issues.Rutgers vs. Michigan will kick off inside SHI
