Sienna Wareing seals move to West Ham from Manchester United

West Ham United have announced the signing of highly regarded midfielder Sienna Wareing from Manchester United, marking a significant addition to their squad. Wareing spent seven years with United, having joined the club after a successful trial, and her journey in football began at Mill Hill Juniors before a stint with Blackburn Rovers. She enjoyed a standout 2025/26 season with United, earning the Academy U21 Player of the Year award and playing a pivotal role as the team claimed the Professional Game Academy Plate. Wareing scored the winning goal against Durham in the final and was named Player of the Match, underscoring her influence at a young age.
During the latter part of last season, Wareing featured for Liverpool Feds on a dual registration arrangement, making six appearances in the second half of the campaign. Her performances helped her earn a first international call-up to England’s Young Lions, and she subsequently represented England U19s three times in their 2026 UEFA Women’s Under-19 European Championship qualifiers.
The move to West Ham represents a major setback for United, with Wareing agreeing to a contract that runs through 2029. Expressing her excitement, the former United academy product said: “I’m absolutely delighted to sign for West Ham United. The conversations I had with Rita [Guarino] and the staff really made me feel welcome, and I can’t wait to carry on my development here. Signing my first professional contract is such a proud moment for me and my family. I’m excited to get started when we return for pre-season and to meet all of my new teammates.”
Head coach Rita Guarino added: “Sienna is a player we believe has a lot of potential. She is a creative midfielder who can effect things in the final third.” Guarino also noted that Wareing has recently made her England U19s debut and is expected to continue progressing in east London, donning a West Ham shirt in the years ahead.
The Hammers finished 10th in the Women’s Super League last season, collecting 19 points and trailing fourth-placed United by 21 points, highlighting the challenge they face in climbing the table. Wareing’s arrival is viewed as a statement of intent from West Ham, signaling their ambition to develop young talent and compete more forcefully in the top tier of English women’s football.
