John Stones is set to anchor England’s defense as central protector, while Thomas Tuchel has unveiled his starting XI for the World Cup quarter-final clash on Saturday against Norway. Ezri Konsa has been selected to start at right-back, sending Djed Spence to the bench, and Reece James remains sidelined by a hamstring injury. In attack, Noni Madueke comes in on the right wing to replace his Arsenal teammate Bukayo Saka, and Marc Guehi along with Declan Rice have been declared fit enough to features from the outset. Elliot Anderson will partner Rice in midfield once again, continuing their collaborative effort in the middle of the park.
For Norway, Andreas Schjelderup replaces Antonio Nusa on the left wing as part of their attacking setup. The England lineup operates in a 4-2-3-1 formation with Jordan Pickford protecting the goal, Konsa and Stones joined by Guehi at centre-back, and O’Reilly at left-back. The two holding midfielders are Anderson and Rice, while Madueke takes the wide right role behind the trio of Bellingham, Gordon, and Kane, who lead the forward line.
Norway respond with a 4-3-3 arrangement: Nyland in goal; Ryerson, Ajer, Heggem, and Moller Wolfe across the back four. The midfield trio consists of Berge, Odegaard, and Berg, supporting a front line featuring Sorloth, Haaland, and Schjelderup.
As the World Cup quarter-finals intensify, anticipation builds around the tactical decisions and lineup choices that could shape the outcome of the match. Portugal’s positioning in the knockout stages, Brazil’s path through the quarters, and the broader race for the trophy remain hot topics among fans and pundits alike, as they weigh up which teams are best placed to lift the trophy as the tournament enters its decisive phase.
