​How stacked are the Houston Texans going into the 2026 NFL season? Bleacher Report believes the AFC South franchise might have the most talent. The publication every year releases its NFL 1000, culminating in the rankings of every position group and its potential. The Texans, who finished with a record-tying 12 wins last season, only improved via free agency and the draft. This included trading for Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery and signing names like Cleveland Browns offensive lineman Wyatt Teller and former No. 1 overall Jadeveon Clowney as a No. 3 pass-rusher. Not to mention, the Texans hit home runs on paper with their first two draft picks in Georgia Tech’s Keylan Rutledge and Ohio State’s Kayden McDonald. It’s early in camp, but both Michigan tight end Marlin Klein and Boston College wideout Lewis continue to turn heads and look like promising contributors. So, what was the score by Bleacher Report? At 73.1, the Texans ranked .3 spots higher than the Los Angeles Rams and featured six players in the top 100, including defensive end Will Anderson Jr., cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. and wide receiver Nico Collins. “The Texans’ standing as the NFL’s most stacked team may come as a surprise depending on how much emphasis a person places on defense in an offense-driven league,” Bleacher Report’s Brent Sobleski wrote. “At a time when defenses aren’t expected to be truly dominant, Houston still shines as the league’s best and has only gotten stronger this offseason.”Sobleski also mentioned that while Houston had six players in the top 100, several other names were on the outside looking in. This included Clowney, slot defender Jalen Pitre and quarterback C.J. Stroud. “As good as Houston’s defense is, significant talent can be found on the other side of the ball as well,” Sobleski wrote. “Wide receiver Nico Collins has now posted three straight 1,000-yard campaigns. The B/R Scouting Department considers Collins a top-10 wide receiver.”Quarterback CJ Stroud remains the hang-up regarding this roster. Coming off last season, he graded as the 20th-best quarterback among the NFL 1000. If the version from Stroud’s rookie year shows up this fall, the Texans will likely emerge as the AFC’s best team. They might be anyhow even with a mediocre Stroud at the helm.”The Lions were the only team to feature more names in the top 100 than Houston, but also graded a full point below the Texans because of depth.
