Tuttosport link former Bayern and Dortmund defender to AC Milan

Raphaël Guerreiro has emerged as a reported transfer target for AC Milan, with Italian outlet Tuttosport linking the former Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich defender with a possible move to Serie A. The Portuguese international, who has spent the last decade playing in the Bundesliga, could be offered the chance to continue his career at San Siro as the Rossoneri look to strengthen their options on the left side of defence.
According to Tuttosport, AC Milan are monitoring Guerreiro as a potential solution should they need further depth or experience in the full-back position. The seven-time European champions are said to view the versatile defender as an attractive market opportunity, particularly because he could be available on a free transfer. Guerreiro’s ability to play as a left-back, wing-back or even in midfield makes him a valuable option for clubs looking for tactical flexibility.
The report suggests that Guerreiro has been considered as a possible replacement or alternative to Pervis Estupiñán, with Milan continuing to assess their defensive plans. The Rossoneri have been active in evaluating players who can improve their squad balance, and Guerreiro’s experience at the highest level makes him a name worth following. Having represented two of Germany’s biggest clubs, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, he would bring proven quality and winning mentality to any dressing room.
Atlético Madrid were also previously mentioned as a possible destination for the Portuguese defender. However, the Spanish club have since moved in a different direction by securing Alejandro Grimaldo from Bayer Leverkusen, a player who operates in a similar role. That development appears to have reduced Atlético’s need for Guerreiro, potentially leaving AC Milan with a clearer path if they decide to advance their interest.
Bayer Leverkusen have also been linked with Guerreiro in recent weeks. Die Werkself were reportedly keeping a close eye on his situation, especially as they look to maintain depth in wide defensive areas. With his Bundesliga experience and technical quality, Guerreiro would fit the profile of a player capable of adapting quickly to Leverkusen’s system. However, Milan’s interest could present him with the opportunity to test himself in a new league after many years in Germany.
Guerreiro’s future has been the subject of speculation after an injury-hit period at Bayern Munich. At one stage, reports even suggested that he was considering the possibility of retiring earlier than expected because of his fitness problems. However, the latest indications are that the French-born Portugal international is now exploring his options and could continue his playing career if the right offer arrives.
The 32-year-old has enjoyed a highly respectable career at club and international level. He became a key figure at Borussia Dortmund after joining the club from Lorient in 2016, quickly establishing himself as one of the most technically gifted left-sided players in the Bundesliga. Guerreiro was known for his intelligent movement, passing range, set-piece quality and ability to contribute in the final third.
His final appearance for Borussia Dortmund was a painful one, as the club missed out on the Bundesliga title on the last day of the season. Dortmund were in a strong position to win the Meisterschale, but their draw against Mainz allowed Bayern Munich to snatch the title dramatically. Guerreiro left BVB shortly afterwards and joined Bayern on a free transfer, where he eventually experienced the title success that had eluded him in Dortmund.
During his time with Bayern Munich, Guerreiro won the Bundesliga in back-to-back seasons, adding more silverware to an already impressive career. Although injuries limited his consistency, his quality was never in doubt when available. His technical profile allowed him to operate not only as a defender but also as an inverted full-back or central midfielder, making him a useful option for different tactical setups.
On the international stage, Guerreiro was part of Portugal’s historic UEFA Euro 2016 triumph. That victory remains one of the greatest achievements in Portuguese football history, and Guerreiro played an important role in the tournament. His experience with the national team adds further appeal for clubs such as AC Milan, who often value players with European and international pedigree.
A move to AC Milan would represent a fresh chapter for Guerreiro after many years in the Bundesliga. Serie A could offer him a different tactical challenge, while Milan would gain a highly experienced and technically refined defender capable of contributing immediately. With his contract situation making him a potentially low-cost signing, the transfer link is one to watch closely as the summer market develops.
For now, Raphaël Guerreiro’s next destination remains uncertain, but interest from AC Milan, previous links with Atlético Madrid and reported attention from Bayer Leverkusen show that he remains a player with a strong reputation across Europe. If he can prove his fitness, the former Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund star could still have plenty to offer at the top level.
