​SEATTLE — Twins general manager Jeremy Zoll publicly pledged to be a buyer at the trade deadline on Tuesday and true to his word, the Twins have been the most active team ahead of the deadline thus far.The Twins addressed both their bullpen and starting rotation on Friday.A trade for left-handed reliever A.J. Minter in a trade with the New York Mets was made official on Friday morning and on Friday night, the Twins added to their rotation, swinging a deal with the Baltimore Orioles for starting pitcher Dean Kremer.The Twins acquired Kremer for minor league outfielder Jhomnardo Reyes. It’s the third trade the Twins pulled off in the month of July, and there could be more coming before Major League Baseball’s trade deadline on Monday at 5 p.m. CDT.Kremer, 30, has a 6.50 ERA this season across seven starts, most recently giving up eight runs on Tuesday against the Detroit Tigers. He missed much of this season with a quad strain. For his career, he has a 4.37 ERA across parts of seven seasons in the major leagues, all with the Orioles.Kremer, who is making $5.75 million this year, has one year of team control after this one.While the Twins entered spring training with an impressive amount of starting pitching depth, it has been eroded over the course of the season. Three pitchers — Pablo López, Mick Abel and David Festa — all had surgery this year and two of those three — López and Festa — did not throw a pitch for the Twins this season. Abel made just four appearances.Mike Paredes, who began the year in Double-A Wichita before eventually finding himself making starts for the Twins, is now on the injured list with an oblique strain, as well. The Twins transferred him to the 60-day injured list to make room on the 40-man roster for Kremer.Zebby Matthews and Connor Prielipp, both of whom started the year at Triple-A as depth, have spent much of the year pitching out of the Twins’ rotation and Andrew Morris has become one of the team’s top relievers.The Twins also broke camp with Simeon Woods Richardson, who lost his job due to performance and was then designated for assignment.The result of all of that is a rotation that has been thin on depth, prompting the need to supplement the group at the deadline.Reyes, 18, was slashing .275/.394/.494 in 55 games this season, most of them coming with the Florida Complex League Twins.  He was recently bumped to Class-A Fort Myers.Related Articles Saints fall as Omaha’s bats wake up Twins acquire reliever A.J.
