ADRIAN – Brian Dopp made new friends quickly.
The recent Adrian Madison graduate didn’t have any of high school receivers on the roster when lined up at quarterback for Lenawee County in an All-Star Game against Monroe County at Adrian College on Friday, June 19, 2026.

He adapted quickly, throwing to five different receivers for 179 yards and a touchdown to lead his team to a 27-22 victory.
Dopp, who completed 9 of his 15 attempts, was named the Most Valuable Player for Lenawee.

“I didn’t have any of my Madison receivers,” he said. “I had to learn the routes for other guys.”
Erik Johnson of Britton Deerfield, who coached the Lenawee County team, knew early on that Dopp’s are would be a weapon.

“I saw it on the first day of practice,” he said. “He has a quick release and can really wing it.”
Friday was the final football game of Dopp’s career.

He is headed to Saginaw Valley State next year to play baseball.
“This was special,” said Dopp, who also played in the Monroe vs. Lenawee All-Star Baseball Game on June 15. “Even thought I will be playing baseball in college, I wanted one more chance to enjoy the Friday night lights. This was a really fun game.”
Dopp made it a lot more fun for the Lenawee County team, which topped Monroe for the first time in the three-year history of the game.
He deftly directed two touchdown drives after Monroe scored a touchdown with 3:23 left in the first half to take a 7-6 lead.
“That was huge,” Johnson said. “Our guys executed perfectly.”

The first drive took just over a minute off the clock as connects on passes of 22 and 26 yards to move the ball to the 17-yard line.
He then gained 9 yards on a scramble before tossing to Caden Kubacki of Britton Deerfield and 8-yard touchdown pass.
A quick three-and-out by Monroe created another chance for Lenawee County and Dopp seized it by throwing a 33-yard pass to Tecumseh’s Jacob Barrie to set up a 4-yard TD run by Jamari Blue of Adrian.
Lenawee went into intermission with a 20-7 lead.
“It was great in the locker room at halftime,” Dopp said.
The lead expanded to 27-7 in the third quarter on and 11-yard scoring run by Braylon Zimmerman of Adrian.

Monroe closed the gap with a pair of late touchdowns, but could not complete the comeback.
“This was a really good experience,” Johnson said.
Kubacki was the game’s top receiver with three catches for 77 yards. Barrie had two grabs for 59 yards and Liem Roe of Britton Deerfield hauled in three passes for 41 yards.
Declan Cornish of Tecumseh kicked a pair of field goals and three PATs.
