Tyrese Haliburton shared LeBron James’ petty 2-emoji response to joining Pacers

LeBron James’ likely final free agency has taken over the NBA’s summer. Even though the all-time great is 41 years old, he remains an effective player who could potentially help push a title contender over the top to greatness. As such, it’s not surprising to hear about seemingly everyone under the sun trying to recruit the free agent James to their respective teams.Even Tyrese Haliburton tried to convince James to join the Indiana Pacers. It, uh, did not go how he thought it would.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementDuring a Thursday taping of the Mind the Game podcast, Haliburton revealed that he texted James about coming to the Pacers before he officially left the Los Angeles Lakers. James did not take this offer seriously. Per Haliburton, the basketball legend replied with just two crying-laughing emojis. As you could imagine, Haliburton did not press the matter any further:I know James has probably has his sights set on returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers one last time, or playing in a big market somewhere else, but it’s weird to me he wouldn’t at least consider the Pacers. The basketball fit would’ve been terrific! Imagine a Haliburton and James two-man game. Imagine James finding open 3-point shooters like Aaron Nesmith and Kelly Oubre Jr. in the corners. Ivica Zubac would also be one of the best big men James has ever played with. Point blank.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementAlas, it wasn’t meant to be. It sounds like James shut down the very thought process right away. What a shame. The decision should come in short order, likely after the end of the men’s World Cup and before NFL training camps start up in earnest. This article originally appeared on For The Win: Tyrese Haliburton shared LeBron James’ petty 2-emoji response to joining Pacers
