His long-term future with the Denver Nuggets is not as clear as it once seemed. In fact, the Nuggets are prepared to offer Jokic the largest contract in NBA history. His projected deal could be worth a staggering $360 million.“Every league source I’ve spoken to over the years and in recent weeks has reiterated that no one really expects Jokić to leave Denver. Waiting also makes financial sense: Next summer, he could sign a projected five-year, $360 million deal — the richest deal in NBA history,” Yahoo Sports’ Kevin O’Connor wrote.Although Jokic could secure that lucrative contract by staying in Denver, other teams are already monitoring his situation and hoping to have a chance to pursue him in free agency.“While the best Nugget ever has insisted that he wants to stay in Denver and sign a massive five-year deal worth a projected $360 million, there is justifiable paranoia in the Mile High City that the shortcomings of the rest of the roster may cause his eye to wander. Certainly, 29 other teams are scheming for how they might lure him away come July,” The Athletic’s John Hollinger wrote. One team hoping to land the three-time MVP is the Golden State Warriors. Adding Jokic could give the organization another opportunity to chase a championship with Steph Curry.“The Warriors are one of those teams out there that are looking around and rubbing their fingers together and thinking, ‘Are we sure Jokic isn’t gonna become available next summer?’” NBA insider Jake Fischer reported Thursday on Deals and Dunks.A move like this would give the Warriors an incredibly difficult offense to defend. If they can move Kristaps Porziņģis’ contract and allow several expiring contracts to come off the books without re-signing those players, they could have a path toward creating the necessary cap flexibility.Jokic is currently playing under a $276 million contract with the Nuggets. Pairing him with Curry would give Golden State an elite duo capable of making another serious championship push. If the Warriors are serious about pursuing Jokic, they could make a major run at him if he reaches free agency.More MLB news:Nuggets’ $207M All-Star, three-level scorer named surprise trade candidate by NBA insiderWarriors predicted to trade Kristaps Porzingis for $27M versatile stretch-big after recent updateLakers predicted to trade for $88M rim-runner to reunite with Luka Doncic amid lethal start76ers’ Tyrese Maxey gives great injury update on pinky finger after revenge win vs. Pistons
