   ​One of the most anticipated high school sports seasons in Montgomery is just around the corner. Alabama’s 2026 high school football season is heating up as teams transition from spring practices to summer workouts. Local schedules begin with games set for August 20 through August 22, and the regular season will run through October 30. Region play will play a crucial role in shaping playoff positioning before the AHSAA postseason unfolds in November. The AHSAA Football Championship games are scheduled for the first week of December in Mobile.
On the AISA side, playoffs begin in November, with state championships slated to start later in the month.
