​Braylon Payne, the 20-year-old first-round pick in 2024 who delivered a sensational 2026 season, is among the seven Milwaukee Brewers prospects whose seasons will continue in the annual Arizona Fall League.The six-week showcase gathers players from each big-league organization, starting Oct. 3 and extending through the Nov. 14 championship game. The Brewers players will join the Scottsdale Scorpions, one of six teams in the league.Brewers prospects joining Payne are third baseman Eric Bitonti, catcher Matt Wood and pitchers Ryan Birchard, Miqueas Mercedes, Jose Meneses and Josh Quezada.Payne’s Class AA Biloxi Shuckers were scheduled to play Game 1 of a best-of-three Southern League semifinal Sept. 15 after the Shuckers won the division’s first-half title. Payne played in 25 games with Biloxi after being promoted from High Class A Wisconsin and had a quality .846 OPS with five homers and three steals.For the year, the speedy left-handed center fielder had a .910 OPS with 28 homers, 67 RBIs and 25 steals.Bitonti likewise finished the year with the Shuckers and spent most of the season at Wisconsin. The 20-year-old went 3-for-24 in his lone week with Biloxi but spent most of the season raking in Appleton, with 25 homers eclipsing Payne’s 23 for the franchise single-season record. Bitonti also stole 24 bases and was caught just once despite standing 6-foot-5 and 218 pounds.The third-round pick in 2023 has an .885 OPS for the year to go with his 25 homers, 24 steals and 93 RBIs, a bounceback season after his prospect status had dwindled the year before. He’s ranked No. 26 in the organization by MLB Pipeline, while Payne is ranked No. 6.None of the other players make the Brewers’ organizational top 30, but they’re interesting, all the same.Birchard, 23, a fifth-round pick in 2023, had a 4.68 ERA this season in a year limited to 50 innings. He struck out 82 but was hurt by 57 walks. He had a 3.91 ERA at Wisconsin in 2025.Mercedes, 20, is a right-hander from the Dominican Republic who delivered an impressive 2.61 ERA in 21 games (16 starts) this year, striking out 75 in 79 innings. Most of his work was at Class A Wilson before a late-season promotion to Wisconsin, where he allowed no runs on three hits in 5⅔ innings for the Timber Rattlers.Meneses, 21, is the lone lefty in the pitching group and went a sparkling 6-0 with a 2.21 ERA this year, working almost entirely in relief. The native Venezuelan had a 1.04 WHIP, eight saves and 72 strikeouts in 57 innings, splitting time between Wilson and Wisconsin. Quezada, a 22-year-old righty from Nicaragua, went 7-2 this year with a 5.40 ERA and 74 punchouts in 58 innings. He got cups of coffee in both Class AA and Class AAA but did the bulk of the work at Wilson.Wood, 25, spent the full season at Biloxi, where he racked up an .890 OPS and had 18 homers in 303 at-bats.
