It’s Day 71 of our 100-day countdown to kickoff as we revisit one of the biggest regular-season stages the Cowboys have ever owned. Dallas hosted Kansas City on Thanksgiving Day 2025 in a matchup built for television, and by the end, Dallas had an unlikely win that pushed the game into the record books as the most-watched regular-season contest in NFL history. Thursday, November 27, 2025 — 4:30 p.m. ET at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Final score: Dallas Cowboys 31, Kansas City Chiefs 28.
The opener looked dire for the Cowboys. Prescott was picked off by Jaylen Watson on Dallas’ first possession, and Mahomes needed only two plays to capitalize, finding Rashee Rice for a 27-yard touchdown. Dallas answered quickly with a 12-play scoring drive, capped by Prescott finding CeeDee Lamb for 15 yards, but Kansas City struck again late in the first quarter when Mahomes hit Travis Kelce from two yards to make it 14-7 Chiefs. Dallas then found their footing. Brandon Aubrey nailed a 49-yard field goal, and the defense finally forced a three-and-out. The Cowboys seized their first lead late in the second quarter when Malik Davis, who finished with just three carries, broke loose for a 43-yard touchdown run—the longest rush of his career and Dallas’ longest rushing touchdown since 2022—giving Dallas a 17-14 halftime edge.
The third quarter was a defensive reset for Dallas. After KC scored on its first two drives of the period, the Cowboys stiffened, forcing punts on four consecutive Chiefs possessions to begin the second half. Aubrey added a 36-yard field goal to extend the lead to 20-14, but Mahomes answered early in the fourth with a fourth-down conversion to Rice to reclaim a 21-20 Chiefs lead. Then Prescott delivered the defining sequence. A spectacular 39-yard catch by George Pickens followed by another reception moved Dallas into Chiefs territory, and Prescott escaped pressure to dump a three-yard touchdown pass to Javonte Williams, with a successful two-point conversion to Pickens afterward, putting Dallas back in front at 28-21. The Cowboys extended the lead to 31-21 with another Aubrey field goal, while Mahomes kept the drama alive, but Dallas held on for the historic win.
