The Georgia Bulldogs have had several injuries at running back this season. Fortunately, it appears that speedster Dwight Phillips avoided a significant injury in Georgia’s 27-8 win over the Florida Gators.”He’s fine,” Georgia coach Kirby Smart said during his weekly press conference. “Dwight’s fine, I think he’s more tired than hurt.”Georgia did not use Phillips a ton in the Bulldogs’ win over Florida. He was a bit beat up in the second half, but apparently healthy enough to play. Phillips posted eight carries for 67 yards and added one reception for six yards against the Gators.Phillips has taken on a larger role in the Georgia offense this season. He has a nice streak of five straight games with at least 70 total yards. The explosive Phillips averages 7.5 yards per carry, which is No. 7 in the country. Phillips has 55 carries for 415 rushing yards this season and 11 receptions for 120 yards. He has three total touchdowns.Georgia will be counting on Phillips to get the job done against the Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday. Phillips and Nate Frazier are expected to take the bulk of Georgia’s carries against Ole Miss with Bo Walker also getting a few looks. We’ll see if Phillips appears on Georgia’s initial SEC availability report when it is released on Wednesday night.Follow UGA Wire on Instagram, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter) or Threads for more Georgia football coverage! This article originally appeared on UGA Wire: Kirby Smart delivers injury update on Georgia’s leading rusher
