nnnnnIf you are familiar with the VUHoops Mailbag that Matt and I did recently, you might be familiar with the answer to this question already.nBut, why not discuss it together?nFor those of you who are older than I am, let’s remember that this list begins around 2004. I am 31 years old and became a Villanova fan at eight years old. nSo no, I did not watch Ed Pinckney or Howard Porter. Definitely not Paul Arizin. As a New Jersey native, and New York Knicks fan, I am familiar with Tim Thomas and Kerry Kittles at the NBA level but did not watch them at Villanova.nThere might be a list to be made of all-time players where we can dive deep into the history, but for now, we’re going to stick to what has been the glory days of Villanova Basketball.nMy Top 10 Villanova Basketball PlayersnHonorable Mentions: Jermaine Samuels, Dante Cunningham, Donte DiVincenzo, Darrun Hilliard, Mike Nardi, Kris Jenkins, Daniel Ochefun10. Eric DixonnCareer stats: 14.3 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 47.1% FG, 38.7% 3PT, 81.3% FTnCareer accolades: 2024-25 Third Team All-America, 3x All-Big East selection, 1 Final Four appearance (2022), Program’s all-time scoring leader (2,314 points), No. 8 all-time in rebounds (904), Led nation with 23.3 points per game in 2024-25nDixon ended his career as Villanova’s top scorer all-time. He was one of many Wildcats who came into the program and developed into an elite player. After being part of a Final Four team, Dixon endured the down years under the coach before Kevin Willard. The final spot on this list could have went many ways but the individual success in down years lands Dixon here, including leading the nation in scoring in his final season.nnWith this bucket, Eric Dixon has just passed Kerry Kittles to become Villanova men’s basketball’s all-time leading scorer with 2,244 career points. An all-time great on the Main Line. pic.twitter.com/tDWeGhGPhy— John Fanta (@John_Fanta) April 2, 2025nn9. Allan RaynCareer stats: 15.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.2 steals, 40.7% FG, 36.7% 3PT, 82% FTnCareer accolades: 2005-06 Second Team All-America, 3x All-Big East selection, No. 8 all-time in points (2,025), No. 3 all-time in 3PT (312)nRay became one of the top players in the Big East during his career at Villanova. After making the decision to come to Villanova in a loaded recruiting class under Jay Wright, Ray scored over 2,000 points and proved to be an elite scorer. Villanova fans, look away if you want — Ray was also called for the controversial (and bogus) travel call late in the NCAA Tournament against North Carolina in 2005. That does not take away from an incredible legacy obviously. To this day, that call still makes the blood pressure rise.nnTHROWBACK THURSDAY Allan Ray Villanova (2002-06) 🔥🔥Ray was a 3x All-Big East selection and helped lead Villanova to the Elite Eight his senior season and Sweet Sixteen his junior seasonVillanova Legend 💯 @ARayfor3pic.twitter.com/QXurHg
